Remember Quincy Russell?

He was an Under Armour All American DT coming out of high school that was suppose to enroll at Texas but failed to qualify because of academics. Well he went JUCO and signed with Trinity Valley in 2011 and apparently did really well. He was rated as the #7 JUCO DT in the nation but Texas passed on him and he signed with the Sooners for 2013. So his talents were good enough coming out of HS but not good enough to come back to Texas? Especially when we didn't sign a DT this year?

IIRC, Texas was in contact with Russell and even had him visit. No idea why no offer was made other than UT's thinking that Robinson's commitment was reliable. By the time that Robinson decommitted, Russell had been committed to the Sooners for awhile. I don't know if he was contacted after Robinson bailed.

This bit of news really sucks. Hell, who needs a defense?

I believe he still has some academic issues to clean up before he can enroll at OU, so he is still at Trinity Valley. Maybe this was the reason TX did not offer. Who knows with this staff, as it seems the program is adrift without a leader or a mission. It certainly has no identity right now other than chaos.

Requirements and expectation not to mention actual workload. They are much better than in the past but nowhere near where they think they are or should be.

Does anyone know of a website where academic qualifications for athletes are compared? Not interested in academic progress once an athlete is enrolled. That has to meet NCAA academic progress requirements.

I am interested in how schools differ in academic entrance requirements for incoming freshman athletes.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have always believed some schools have high entrance requirements but have never seen anything definitive.

NCAA student athlete requirements aren't tough to meet and they're standardized across the board. But it's up to the individual schools if they want to go with the NCAA minimum requirements or create their own standard.

ou football qualifies as a Work-Release program for convicts, so they got that goin' for them, which is nice....
