Remaing spots

With 17 seniors andnot counting attrition there is four spots open.
What position would you fill these 4 spots and why?

I would take four OLmen as first choice. But could live with three OL and one LB

3OL and 1 RB.

LB isn't a huge need position. Just signed 3 this past class.
RB for sure, although I'm really wondering why they offered a FB so soon.

RB: Malcolm Brown and Aaron Green
OL: Sedrick Flowers, Matt Hagerty, Christian Westerman
DE: Cedric Reed and Jermauria Rasco
DT: Marquise Anderson
LB: Steve Edmond and Anthony Wallace
DB: Quandre Diggs

Attrition has been rampant of late, so this is looking more and more plausible as a big class. This would only be 24 and includes a total of 6 O-Linemen (not at all a stretch IMO). Next on the list would be James Vaughters from Georgia, a combo DE/OLB freak athlete. I'd love another corner as well, but looks like we'd have to go OOS to procure 'em.

Tought to pinpoint from the outside but looking at the commitments signed and verbal for 2011 i would go for 1 athlete 2 ol 1 running back.

All but Hagerty and Diggs off that list got offers last weekend. There are 9 open offers and 13 commits to date.

you can add quincy russell to that list. he was at the first jr day apparently. not sure what the coaches' idea is with russell and anderson from cibolo. 1st one to commit?? can't imagine we take another 3 dts this year, with the big fish already in with jackson.

GHoward There are eight RBS on hand for one spot. There are nine LBS on hand for three spots. Which is the biggest need?

The rest of the replies got away from the four spot question.

Unfortunately, I haven't seen Hagerty's name in any $$ recruiting news letters saying he's on the Texas Radar... that is, outside of McVince in this thread. Till he goes thru a Jr. Day and/or schedules an unofficial visit, you might be wishfully thinking!

not only is grealea coming in for a jr. day, his recent comments made him sound like someone who really likes texas, and could commit fairly quickly. it shows how much 'bad' internet info can spread.

as far as hegarty goes, it has been widely reported on rivals that he has been in contact with our coaches, and had wanted to come to a jr. day, but it didn't work out. now whether that's a demarco cobbs kind of "didn't work out" or a never going to happen kind of "didn't work out" remains to be seen.

now the question is what the coaches are going to do with their OL offers. we got 3 guys already that are good, but we have 4 higher tier guys that are on the radar. there's no way we'd get all 4, but what if 3 were a possibility? would we take 6? what if our coaches have 5 set in stone as a number. flowers and greanlea take spots, leaving westerman out? (obviously that won't happen). give 1 stop to either flowers or greanlea first? i think this is why we should have only offered 2 of cochran, hutchins, and doyle. we have so little flexibility now with the top guys.

let's hope this one works out for the best for us. (oh, and rb too

Numbers on the OL are just that...projected numbers. No matter who else verbals, or when, if Westerman decides he wants UT, there will be a place for him. He's that good. Good news, by the way, on Greenlea...he's definitely UT-good enough!
