Relatively obscure covers

Over the years, I've found a few covers that seem to be pretty obscure. I thought I'd share. My genre of choice is "alternative." With that said, here's a few tunes that are worth a few minutes to check out on youtube or itunes.

performing band: drugstore
song: old shoes
original artist: tom waits

Performing band: pearl jam
song: it's ok
original artist: dead moon

it's ok

The pearl jam tune is a bit challenging to acquire. I bought the live dvd "touring band" years ago. I finally figured out how to rip it to audio and put it in my itunes.

Not sure how obscure this one is but it's good. Moby and his version of the james bond theme.

So, let's have some of your recommendations.

I don't know if it is still obscure or not but Dinosaur Jr.'s cover of The Cure's "Just Like Heaven" is really cool.

I also enjoy Aztec Camera's cover of Van Halen's "Jump".

Performing Band: Luna
Song: Ride Into the Sun
Original Artist: Velvet Underground

Luna may or may qualify as "obscure", but since it was only released as a b-side to a CD single, and the original song was also never released on a studio album, I'd say it fits into this category.

In any case it's certainly my favorite cover of all time, and might just be my favorite song of all time.

Lick The Tins: "I can't help falling in love with you"

For John Hughes fans, its the song from the closing credits of "Some Kind of Wonderful"

performing band: controversy
song: sussudio
original artist: phil collins

Mr. Tamborine Man, rocket Man, or any of the other songs Shatner has done aren't rare enough.

Song: Stayin' Alive
Original: Bee Gees

Group: Blink 182
Song: Hit Me Baby One More Time
Original: Britney Spears

Group: Austin Lounge Lizards
Song: Brain Damage
Original: Pink Floyd

Band: Jerry Joseph
Song: Couldn't get it Right
Original Band: Climax Blues Band

Band: Sublime
Song: Scarlett Begonias
Original Band: Grateful Dead

Band: Pearl Jam
Son: CCR
