You've got to be kidding me. I'm just going to say that good sportmanship & not attacking fellow players must not be part of the criteria.

OMG. I got into a twitter back-and-forth with Nancy Lieberman about Reilly and she just kept saying "she's a great kid if you only knew her"...blah blah blah. "She's a competitor." blah blah blah

I also noticed yesterday on twitter that Rebecca Lobo was saying how B. Griner not making the D1 All-America team was an "embarassment to wbb". ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Does good character not mean anything to these people?

I agree with everyone above. Reilly is a good player, but does not embody the essence of the point guard role, i.e., getting other players involved, reading defenses, running plays, and managing tempo. Plus, do you give an award like this to a player who is known to have attacked other players in game play at least twice (and that may be the tip of the iceberg)? That contradicts the idea of leadership, if leadership has anything to do with the point guard role.

Rebecca Lobo is part of the ESPN hype machine. ESPN analysyts have two topics throughout these playoffs -- UConn and Griner. Rebecca is caught up in that. Griner has the potential to be first team all-AA, and I am sure will be the next three years. But her play this season was not consistently great. Heck, she sure didn't play like first team all-AA when they played us in Austin. Being named to these AA teams should be based on the whole season, not on one game (she was fantastic against Tennessee), not on one tournament, and not on the amount of hype received. I didn't look to see who named this team, but I imagine they know a few things about basketball, probably as much as Rebecca L., so hopefully Rebecca will be able to move on past her embarrassment.

seriously?! well, i said my peace about Riley when the final ballot was announced...IMO other players were much more deserving. but hey, i guess the best point guard means averaging the most points while jacking up a ton of shots. good to know

26.7 ppg (1st in Big 12; 2nd nationally)
6.47 apg (1st in Big 12; 7th nationally)
80.2% FTs
1.74 spg
1.5 a/to ratio

It’s easy to see why she is considered among the top PGs nationally and, in this case, the top PG. She is probably the best PG at both setting up her teammates and scoring. I have to admit I was surprised to see her assist totals.

This year, for the most part, she kept her temper under control so I don’t think that was a factor. I still think they could have found someone else to honor that includes leadership on and off the court. Allison Lacey in the Big 12 comes to mind as probably the closest to Riley in scoring and setting up others in the Big 12 and better at meeting the leadership criteria on and off the court. Danielle Robinson coule also be in the conversation. And that's only players from the Big 12.

Leiberman has always been conceited and arrogant herself.

When she is on camera, she has it WRITTEN into her contact that she is ALWAYS referred to as "Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman"....

She even has it on the Voice Mail of her cell phone...

So, no surprise she chooses someone of her arrogant nature...

Who cares? She made a fool of herself playing in the WNBA at 50, and Riley will make a fool of herself in the WNBA when she gets thrown off a team for being violent...

HOLY CRAP...they are basketball players. Players should be rewarded for their talents on the court. It's sports...**** happens. Enough belly aching about this and that and give these girls the credit they deserve for their play. This is not a freaking popularity contest.
