I agree with everyone above. Reilly is a good player, but does not embody the essence of the point guard role, i.e., getting other players involved, reading defenses, running plays, and managing tempo. Plus, do you give an award like this to a player who is known to have attacked other players in game play at least twice (and that may be the tip of the iceberg)? That contradicts the idea of leadership, if leadership has anything to do with the point guard role.
Rebecca Lobo is part of the ESPN hype machine. ESPN analysyts have two topics throughout these playoffs -- UConn and Griner. Rebecca is caught up in that. Griner has the potential to be first team all-AA, and I am sure will be the next three years. But her play this season was not consistently great. Heck, she sure didn't play like first team all-AA when they played us in Austin. Being named to these AA teams should be based on the whole season, not on one game (she was fantastic against Tennessee), not on one tournament, and not on the amount of hype received. I didn't look to see who named this team, but I imagine they know a few things about basketball, probably as much as Rebecca L., so hopefully Rebecca will be able to move on past her embarrassment.
