If you are talking about soon, no because the photos will eventually leak.

If you are talking about far out like 2035, then probably. He'll have had over a decade to NOT let this happen again.

Role model would be icing on the cake. Was Tom Herman hired to be a role model? I don't think so. He was fired because he was a jerk and he didn't win enough games. Strong was a better role model, but fired due to a lousy record.

Shaka was a fine role model. But could win not big games, even though he recruited well. Is Terry a good role model? I have no idea.

I don't need a stellar role model for a coach. But we cannot have anyone on staff who is a criminal. How about if he was convicted of DWI? Once maybe with rehab ok; but two, gone.

Beard is a great coach. Personally, I don't think he was responsible for all the abrasions, bite mark, and bruises. But the appearance of guilt, in this case, is all that matters. The possibility of his being responsible for some of them was enough for the Admin to can him. I cannot disagree with that decision.

However, if it were determined that he did not cause the bite mark, the bruises, but in the course of defending himself his girlfriend was bruised, and then she bite herself in order to better support her initial statements then what? Still, the high profile nature of this whole fiasco requires the Admin to can him. Were this the actual situation, then he would have been fired due to his relationship with an unstable, violent woman.

Bottom line, this horse has left the barn. Let's move on.

I voted no because of what I believe the university will do and it doesn't really matter what I think. There's no way they bring him back after firing him.

Unless of course UT says they let him go to get rid of the distraction and now that charges are dropped it's game on.

The case is typical of an abusive relationship.

the battered wife/ girl friend files charges, later drops charges.

nothing changes, rinse and repeat over and over.

move on.

It would take CDC (and a few powerful others) advocating for him and a deeply repentant and apologetic Beard, but that even calls for a miracle. They could play the second chance angle, I guess, plus the move to SEC would help distract. Idk, but feel bad for the dude. Am I wrong?

Yes, well it’s typical of that, but also fits a different typical pattern of overly dramatic people who exaggerate/falsify and then have to admit it when reality comes around. Dropping the charges or refusing to prosecute doesn’t prove either way.

His official statement from a few days ago was interesting.

I'm sorry and deeply remorseful to my family, friends, all my players and staff both most recent and past, and everyone at my alma mater The University of Texas, including the fans and supporters who were affected by this situation. I would also like to thank all those who have reached out to express encouragement and love during this difficult time

If he had just said "I'm sorry to everyone affected", I would expected he meant "Sorry that it happened", not "Sorry for what I did", since everything before indicated that he believed he did nothing wrong. But "deeply remorseful" only makes sense to say if you are apologizing for your own poor choices; choices that you now regret having made and hold yourself responsible for making.

I didn’t read anything into his statement other than being remorseful to everyone for the “situation”. I’m sure it was a bad situation he found himself with the fiancé that early morning, but I don’t think he admitted to a felony. Moot point though….they won’t bring him back.

The reality is that many of these situations don't begin with the male wailing on the female. Also, responding officers rarely see the contact- they see the aftermath. And that aftermath usually means the male gets the cuff-and-stuff followed by a phone call...

But crazy doesn't occur in a vacuum. Staying in a bad relationship is poor judgment and THAT is what ultimately got him canned at the end of the day, due process of law be damned.

In light of the national renewal of attention after the Petito incident, there was no way the school was able to keep him nor will they bring him back. Even if the school admitted they jumped the gun on firing Beard. The protests at games would be a distraction.

No one on this board knows what happened. Apparently, some of us have crazy exes and others have no tolerance for people accused but not convicted.
I opine employers should stay out of the lives and bedrooms of their employees with the caveat “unless convicted of a crime”. And even then it should depend on the crime. (Augie DWI)
The girlfriend recanted and charges have been dropped.
Should never have been fired. Feckless administration again not doing the right thing.
Rehire him.
