Rehersal Dinner in Houston

what about La Colombe d'Or?

I was at a rehersal dinner there a bunch of years ago that was pretty good. Don't know how it is today though

Type of food? Formal or informal?

If you want good mexican and a decent price, go to Cafe Adobe on Westheimer. They have a party room with a cash bar. Easily holds 50 -60.

Ok, I figured Id need to lay out the parameters:

-I need it to be somewhere fairly centrally located. Downtown, River Oaks, Galleria area…would all be ok. Maybe Memorial area…

-50-60 guests

-Not sure what type of food but, I was initially thinking Mexican food with a mariachi band, fajitas, beer, wine, and margaritas… But Im open to steak houses if I can get it in the budget…

-Looking to spend somewhere in the $3-6K dollar range…so lets say 5K

yea, I looked at el tiempo too, but they have a 6K min to use the big patio and im not sure that we'll get to the at 6K and id hate to just hand them the money.

The Brownstone. Not Mexican, but a great building. Maybe too much $$$.

It doesn't have to be a restaurant. Find a good space and get mexican food catered.

Post Rice Lofts (formerly the Rice Hotel) has some really good rooms to rent.

There's a good upstairs room you can rent for private aprties at the Majestic Metro downtown.

Magnolia Ballroom (used to be a brewery, gotta like that)

Avoid El Tiempo unless you want to see your relatives stummbling around drunk, emabarrasing themselves, unable to speak coherently, etc. I don't know what they put in those margaritas, but for the uninitiated they are flat out dangerous. Seriously. You friends and family are not ready for these margaritas.

I am not having my rehersal dinner at ninfas. Las alamedas is a good possiblity...just a little old and a little out of the way.
