Rehearsal dinner at Matt's?

so i am getting married in august and am looking at booking a place for our rehearsal dinner. i know, matt's is either a place that you love or hate. perhaps in part due to nostalgia or that i just like the food, but i have always been a matt's fan. would eat there more if i didn't live in the far west/mesa area.

anyway, i am looking at a friday night and for about 45-55 people for the rehearsal dinner. i have been to matt's countless times and have noticed that they have separate rooms. it looks like a good place for a rehearsal dinner b/c i want to have a private room with well some privacy.

i called up matt's but it was past closing. left a message with the general manager for price quotes and availability.

a couple of questions for the board. first, have any of you been to a rehearsal dinner at matts?

second, if matt's does not offer private rooms or is already booked (although we are looking like 8 months from now), does anyone have some good ideas for tex-mex places that offer private rooms that can accomodate ~50 people in austin?

i have been in about 6 weddings and 3 in austin. i have been to rehearsal dinners in austin at county line 2 times and the UT Club 1 time. the county line has horrible food but a private room. the UT Club was very overpriced and the food wasn't very good.

i ended up booking the private room at nuevo leon. nuevo leon is actually where i took my fiancee on our 1st date over 4 1/2 years ago. the old location though.

anyway, it is $25/hour for the 1st 3 hours and no charge after that. we have it booked from 5pm until the end (and we likely won't get there until 7pm). plus they have a fajita buffet menu with pretty good prices.

i am going to do open beer + house margaritas. they said it usually comes to roughly $9/head for that after the night is over. i can live with that.

as it turns out matt's did not have a private room although they might be offering one in the future.
