Regional Projections ... Top 8 !!

So I've been tracking this since they've come out about 4 weeks ago. Every week our stock has gone up, and this week we're where we need to be ... projected as a Top 8 Nat'l Seed. We win every series we have left (against GOOD competition) and I think we're sitting pretty.

3 weeks ago: #2 seed in a California Regional
2 weeks ago: #2 seed in the TCU Regional
Last week: #1 seed in an Austin Regional, not Top 8
This week: #7 Nat'l Seed

For what's it worth, I think the past 2 seasons SEBaseball and Rivals projections have nailed a very good number of the Nat'l Seeds.

I'll update with the Rivals projection later today ...

I think that the national consensus is that the Big 12 is the best baseball Conference in the Country this year. And so I really think that whoever wins the regular season crown will get a top 8 seed.

The schedule does get tougher, but where we have a huge advantage is that we play 9 out of those 12 Conference games at Home, and the three road games are 2 in Waco and 1 in College Station. So not only do we not have to leave the State, we don’t have to leave the region.

Keith Moreland has been saying for a few weeks that 17 wins will take the Title; I think I agree with that, so 8-4 down the stretch will get us there.

Well, we should be upset if we draw Cal Poly as our #2 if we're the #6 overall seed. Poly is strong - Top 15 in the nation strong.

The first projection with Ohio State would be far preferable.

From an objective perspective, a matchup with Cal Poly would be nice from a great offense (them) versus great defense (us) perspective.

I can't believe this is being discussed with so much of the season left. We could still be a 1 seed at the end of the season but we could also be a 4 or 5 seed. Lets get through the next three series before this discussion gets serious.

Let's not forget that a fledgling young coach named Garrido once coached at little old Cal Poly, just before moving to an insignificant commuter school named Fullerton. So Poly still carries a little of the magic, although they don't bunt quite as much as they used to....

The west really gets screwed in baseball. It's so unfair the way they always pair up the western regionals. There's a very limited amount of western teams that make the NCAA's to begin with.

College baseball post-season would be so much better if the post-season wasn't so regionalized. Yes I know they're called regionals but they could at least set up inter-region Super matchups. Every year it's the same old ****......West gets paired up with west, south with south.

They just don't want the CWS to have too many western teams I guess.
