We'll use this thread to post the new projections for this week, most come out on Tuesday. I expect us to be out of the Nat'l Seed range.I was able to ask Kendall Rogers and Aaron Fitt from Baseball America our current status as a Nat'l Seed ... answers below:

Kendall Rogers

"I think Texas is still in OK shape, but I don't think it is in great shape anymore. With that said, the 'Horns still have a fantastic resume and will earn a national seed if the scenario you just listed plays out (beat Texas St and take 2 of 3 from BU/A&M. Those are big big RPI games coming up. FWIW, I see the 'Horns taking two from the Bears this weekend."

Aaron Fitt

"I think Texas' national seed hopes are still very much alive. This team has had two bad weekends all year, but most teams have had two or three bad weekends. Texas is still No. 9 in the RPI and just a half-game out of first in the Big 12. The team that wins that league, if it's Texas or Oklahoma, will be a national seed. The next two weekends won't be easy, but I think winning both series should be enough."

I think those comments are correct, and I am glad to see that people have noticed our record and the details there.

In other words, the sky has still not come down, despite a 4-game funk we have had... We simply exhausted most of the margin of error we had.

It helps that we are TEXAS. We will get a bit more of consideration than most other teams ....

Helps put things in perspective too. Sure, we **** the bed last week ... but if we can recover we're right where we need to be.

I was sooooo pissed yesterday, but now I'm ready to make one last run at a strong finish.

My goal for the team was a Nat'l Seed ... not a Big XII Title, which means nothing. If we can get hot down the stretch we'll be right there.

I hope we get in a game tonight.

Puddle - How about if they have their girlfriends with them while watching it rain?

Seriously, IMO they need some rest, go to a movie, relax. I think one problem is they are trying too hard. KState had 4 complete days of rest prior to the past weekend series.

I really think we're in good shape to take 2 out of 3 from Baylor and A&M. Barton nailed it. The most important thing is to be a national 8 seed. Winning the Big 12 title is nice, but not nearly as important as hosting both tourneys.

I have all the faith in the world that Augie and Co. will have the Horns focused and ready to play ball at this stage of the season. Texas has failed for the last three years to get to the CWS and I think Augie is very determined to get back to Omaha this year because of that.

I was thinking 5 out of 6, a tall order, but hopefully, 4 out of 6 will still gets that coveted national seeding. Those projections sound encouraging. Hope we can uphold our end of the bargain.

The good news is the team still controls its own destiny on this point.

The bad news is it is close, and over the past few years the Committee has not done us any favors. I disagree with the statement above that being Texas helps. I think history has shown that being in the SEC or ACC is what helps.

Yeah, but it would be hard to imagine much better than clipping the wings of the fiesty night birds in their own nest. We would be headed north brimming with confidence.
