My sister is coming in from out of town in a few weeks. She likes reggea music, something I know little about. Can anyone recommend some venues that feature reggea? Thanks in advance.

when i lived on San Gabriel st. there was an apartment below me that was constantly playing reggae music.

go to 1911 San Gabriel, #102. it's been a couple of years but i'm sure those no good doped up slacked jawed freaks are still there.

allright uh huh we be jammin mon hackey sack and goat tees and blunt pipes hanging from our mouvs all right we uh huh uh huh be jammon

flamingo Cantina on sixth is your best, and maybe only, bet. They used to play Reggae on weekends. Don't know if they still do.

Go look around the lobby of Calabash for flyers or something. Also, try The World Beat Cafe on MLK and Nueces. Calabash may have some flyers or promos of stuff gong on. Just a thought. Good luck but I can second the Flamingo at times. I have caught Lee Scratch Perry and others there.

Edit: I just heard that Flamingo is closing. Hopefully it will be open for you to enjoy it. Damn.
