I ate at Redd's Barbecue for the first time today. It's the caboose looking building with the offset smoker across from Randall's on 35th. Pretty damn good. And I always like to support the mom and pop businesses.
What type of details are you looking for? It's probably a 50 square foot building with a mom and pop working inside. They've got two litle tables outside. The caboose has been there a while, but I've only noticed it open the last few weeks.
I had a brisket plate with beans. The brisket was nice and tender with a nice smoke ring to boot. I'm not always a sauce guy, but they put sauce on there (after asking me) and it was pretty damn good. My wife had a sliced brisket sandwich and liked it too.
A city of austin construction worker ordered right before us. It took him about four minutes to finish his plate with two sides so I assume his was pretty good too.
It's pretty good, and very fast. A really good alternative to the lack of any other decent fast food over there.
