Red Light Cameras

Is there a web site to find out where these are located throughout the city?

Thanks,

I dont need no scope!

They should be forced to put green light countdown timers big enough to see from 150 yards away on any light that has a red light camera.

I don't know how many times in the last year or so that I get that semi late green that seems to hurry up to a quick yellow just as I get about 40 yards away from the light going the speedlimit of 35-45. It is an impossible situation. Either rev it up and hope to beat it or slam on the breaks to be nearly screeching through the cross walk at least if not into the intersection.

Red light cameras are not making things safer for me.

This is not exactly the same thing, but I've noticed in DFW they time the lights to a higher speed than the limit, at least on the toll roads. For example, 121 just went to a toll road from McKinney to Frisco. Before it was a toll road, you could pretty well time the green lights at around 60 mph, which was the speed limit. These are the lanes that will become the frontage road after the main toll road opens.

Since they opened the main toll road lanes, guess what, they raised the timing. I was speeding pretty good the other morning, hitting every light yellow at 75 mph.

I had either read or heard about this before, so I wasn't completely surprised. But, what I think they will do is raise it even higher to convince people to drive on the toll road. Right now there is very little traffic on the toll road, at least in the early morning hours. I haven't driven on it during rush hour yet.

zork, you make a great point. A countdown is or would be a good thing. Too much limbo time for many drivers.

I hate these. It has caused me to start slamming on my brakes if there is a chance the light will turn before I'm in the intersection. Luckily no one has been behind me. Yet.

I will say that I have noticed that the majority of cameras seem to be placed in areas where the income levels are lower or in areas heavily populated by minorities. Obviously this isn't always the case, but I'm guessing they do that because there is less chance these people will attempt to fight the fine.

I've been thinking about calling up one of those news channel investigative reporters and seeing if they'll do a study on this. Maybe this will help get this crap shut down because I don't think its making anything safer.

The law says that they must have signs up that warn you that the intersection is "photo enforced" or you can get out of the ticket.

If you are crossing 35 heading west on MLK there is no sign but that is a camera intersection.

Is there a way to tell which are cameras and wich are video?
