Longtime NFL referee 'Red' Cashion passes away

One of those characters that made the NFL fun.

Great guy, great official. Red was my second choice to be head of Big XII officials along with Ken Faulkner. My Aggie friends used to tease me that I had "nominated" two Aggies for that position.

Didn't know who Red Cashion was.

When I saw the thread title, I thought it was a misspelling of "Red, Cash Icon, Passes", and that Red McCombs had died.

I believe Red was reffing a game that John Madden was announcing. Red did his famous "First doooowwwnnnn" call and Madden said "You can't really tell Red Cashion is from Texas".....
