Recycling Used CD's

Anyone used a company to recycle old cd's?

I have 100 or so CD's I would like to get rid of, as I have moved most of them to mp3. Google results show a few companies, but none show any independent reviews/verification of their service.

You might try Hastings or Half-Priced Books. They buy used CDs sometimes.

I believe the two above suggestions are illegal if you have ripped the songs to mp3, although I'm not saying I'm above doing that.

Stick them in a plastic recycle bin.

They don't want those in the city recycling bins; if you're going to do that, you might as well throw them in the dumpster.

There are a couple of places you can take them, both very close to each other. St. David's church at 7th and Trinity will recycle them, there's a person at the front desk there during the week who will point you to the dropoff spot.

Also, Ecology in Action at 8th/9th (I can't remember which) and the southbound access road to I-35 will take them...

Cheapo buys anything dvd or cd. If it is something that they have lots of copies of they may not want it and offer you a really low price. But .25 cents is more than nothing.

They buy vinyl too. They will ask for your DL# and signature in compliance with APD but that is no biggie if you did not steal them from somebody.

Go later in the day when they have more money to give. They stop buying at 10 so get there before then.

No, not that bad and they have to be really common cd's. You may be surprised what you think of as common and not common and market desire. It can be an item that sells as soon as they get it and give you a couple bucks for it. You just never know. Some things are first runs and worth more than the reissue, just depends.

I have seen them just say they will offer nothing for something and hope you take it away. They are good about telling you what is what. It's worth just checking out and then using the money you get for some gas or beer across the street at the 7-11.

Recycle the rest or see if Waterloo down the road will buy what Cheapo does not.

Heck, make a list of what you have and put it on the swap meet for a couple of bucks per cd. You may get lucky and some of us will give you our cash first.
