Recruiting

I know that some of you know a lot more about this than I do so….

I am assuming that for 2010 we are done unless there is some really major surprise. Yes?

For 2011 I know there are already three commitments. That would appear to be at least mostly done. But, I have seen or heard Texas mentioned in reference to a number of potential recruits….which I will list. Can anyone give me any idea if any of these are off the board already, or might be realistic possibilities?

Amber Henson
Ronnisha Major
Kiah Stokes
Arielle Roberson
Erica Payne
Brittany Boyd
Amber Battle
Khadijah Ellison

From what I can find it looks like Krystal Forthan is bound for College Station. Yes?

I see there is a girl at Houston Westbury named Amber Orange. I have no reason to believe there is any mutual interest…..but, wouldn’t that be a great name?

2011:

Amber Henson said recently she will make her decision this Spring. She is still considering Duke, UNC, Maryland, Florida, Stanford, LSU, and Texas, I believe. At one point, it was just UNC, Texas, and Tennessee, and then she eliminated the Lady Vols. She's definitely the big fish for 2011.

All I know about Ronnisha Major is that she attended one of our home games recently; believe someone posted that here.

Erica Payne's sister is on the UT soccer team. That's all I know, as I've read nothing about which schools she's considering.

Arielle Roberson's sister is a current sophomore on the UT volleyball team. Another sister is a senior on the Texas Tech basketball team. It's been said she has attended our home games, and Coach G has been in attendance for some of her games.

Another player who has said to have been in attendance at a recent home game is San Antonio John Jay's, Erica Donovan. Her Mustang squad will be playing Friday in the Erwin Center.

Amber Orrange attended our elite camp this summer, I believe, as did Brady Sanders. Shortly after, Sanders gave her commitment. I think they play the same position, so Orrange may no longer be in the picture, but that is pure speculation on my part.

Would be great if we landed any 2 of the above to make it a 5-member class.

2010: Yes, I think we're done. Seems we offered Claire Watkins after she opened up her recruitment, but she recently committed to Vanderbilt, and is expected to sign her LOI this Spring.

Good summary, Moo. Henson is definitely the big target remaining for 2011. I'm not sure what the story is with Amber Orrange. Iirc, that's how she spelled her name. She's a combo guard while I believe Brady is more a SG/SF type. With Peoples coming in and the combo guards we got in 2010, maybe she was not a priority but she is an awesome talent. Horns really need another real "big", say 6-3 or taller who is able to run. One reason Henson is so coveted. Although there are several others in the mix for 2011.

And there's always hope for an unexpected 2010 signing during the upcoming Spring signing period.

Thanks Moo. For some reason it is much more difficult to keep up with WBB recruiting than it is football recruiting.
