I am disappointed in coach G inability to get top recruits especialy in Texas, who does she expect to compete with the baylors, texas A&Ms , statewide and uconns,tenn national.

Honest question: Did she recruit "big names" at Duke or did she turn them into big names?

Anyway, don't we want to give her 5 years of recruiting before we criticize? (I know, we're Texas, but still)

I never seen fans be so negative regarding recruiting. If you are paying attention. She is getting ranked recruits, maybe not a class full. Also what ground did she have to stand on when she came to Texas anyway. A losing record! Which is not going to get a lot of recruits to come to your school. Give the Coach time to build a winning program. And then you might see a different situation. Plus if you have been paying close attention to recruits, its not about pulling in a Class full of Ranked Recruits. We all should be well aware of the Class that was Ranked No.1 in the nation 4 years ago that came to us. But did they do anything NO Now go back and look at Ashley F. She was no where near in the rankings coming out of high school. Now she in the top 20 for Sophmores in college. What I trying to tell you heavyorange its not about ranked recruits. Its about getting a player that will be good for your system.I love Coach G KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
I guess you will have haters regardless of what field its in.

Give her time, she will once again work her magic. She is so charismatic and she knows what it takes to win. A very successful program is building right before your own eyes.

I think overseasbb has to have something to criticize others by......why can't other posters have their own opinion overseas?? Surely you are not God.

I think Coach G is doing an excellent job. However, I also can see what Dino and other posters are talking about. We ARE TEXAS and top recruits like Griner and Pope shouldn't really be picking Baylor over TEXAS. I think that will change with time as we start winning more games. I see this program going to the top just like our Volleyball team did. Volleyball started basically from the ground up a few years ago with a few stars like Mira Topic and Bethany Howden and look at it now. It is a powerhouse and Elliot can now recruit anybody he wants.

Women's Baskeball is going in that direction. i can see it and I do support Gayle for what she is doing.

I think that we may be seeing that program-recognition ranks above coach when these players are making their decisions. I am not saying that we don't have some great recruits scattered throughout, but look at Duke's 2010 class: #4, #6, #19 and #33. It's one thing to snag one or two top recruits per year...it's a whole new ballgame when you snag 4 or 5 in the same class.

It will take Coach G making some big noise at Texas before recruits are going to flock here like they to do Tennessee, UCONN and Duke. Baylor's recruiting shows how important it is for a coach to have success at his or her current school before being able to attract a high number of top ranked players. Mulkey's NC went a long way in attracting the talent they have coming in.
