The Alabama, Michigan State game will be a great case study. Alabama gets lots of Rivals 4-5 star players. Michigan State, not so much.

I don't think the recruiting services are bad at their jobs. They are just not as good as Mark Dantonio/Art Briles/Mike Sherman/Charlie Strong at evaluating talent. And if I worked for a recruiting service and noticed a three star athlete with great measurable is getting offerred by Alabama, LSU or Florida State, I'm going to reevaluate and will probably give the kid another star.
