Recruiting Satan Pastner to Memphis

Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems to me that Pastner's luster should be wearing off by now. Houston Hoops isn't nearly as stacked as it used to be, and it probably isn't even the best AAU program in the Houston area anymore. In addition, the guys Pastner did bring from Houston to Arizona when the Hoops was still on top were all disappointments to some degree.

Josh is going to be on SR 610 this afternoon. Not sure what time. He will still pull a lot of H-town talent to Memphis like he did at Zona. The ultimate ROI from these players will obviously be determined after their career, just like at Zona, but you can't deny that he pulled a lot of players from this area in particular to his school. Expect the same at Memphis.

He was helping Lute Olson come in and cherry-pick prospects in the Houston area with the recruiting aid of his father's AAU operation, not to mention running the Kingwood Classic and other tournaments.

But Arizona hasn't been doing quite as well in this area as it used to.

Like Pastner is gonna cost Texas any more recruits than we've already lost to Memphis and Calipari?

Some folks here have taken it personally that Pastner had enough sway to get some H-town talent that might have been interested in us to go west. His "recruiting" tactics have been called into question, but he did what he set out to do. I also am suprised that nobody in Texas has tried to hire him...makes me think some coaches know something that scares them away from Pastner.

He's still younger than normal to take over a higher-level program. I have no idea why he hasn't been hired, but he's only been one place.

Stuff I've read makes me think he could make a lot more money if he worked for a shoe company...

I think Cal has the right idea at Memphis. Get the best athletes, give them some guidance, make them work hard on defense, roll the ball on the floor...

He should probably add in "practice lots of free throws under pressure."

We don't do too badly, but we need bigger wing players (taller and stronger) in my opinion...
