Recruiting O linemen

I'm not sure how to pose this question, but it comes along the lines of converting DT's into O linemen. Given the usual aggressive tendencies of DT's, DE's, and the seemingly unaggressive tendencies of most O linemen, would it make sense to offer defensive players that won't pan out on the defensive side of the ball and opportunity to earn a schollie if they switch to an offensive position? Does this make any sense?

Given how important depth is on defense, if they're still not needed (or wanted) there, my guess would be any excess defensive players would not be helpful on offense.

It can work out sometimes. I know Jimmy Johnson talked about Chad Hennings being the ultimate prototype in lenth, strength and atheticism to be a left offensive tackle. Of course Hennings was an all America DE at Air Force and a pretty fair DT for the Cowboys. Rayfield Wright made the move from DE to OT and made the Hall of Fame for the Cowboys.

Leonard Davis came here as a DT, but switched not because of aggressiveness, but because he was too damn big and couldn't get up and shoot off the ball quick enough.

In reality, if you're having to put defensive guys on the o-line to get aggressive you're doing it wrong.

The AA-S Fab 55 had Big Leonard listed as a defensive lineman. Perhaps your are confusing him with Tony Hills who switched from TE to OT after a knee injury and drop foot problems.

Tray Allen, Audre McGaskey, Buck Burnette, Roy Watts, J'Marcus Webb . . . . I would have liked to see 1-2 of those guys survive injuries, grades, racist posts on social networking sites - you know the typical things that add to attrition.

I guess I was just musing as to what could be done to find more "aggresive" type line players. I'm sure some of these guys have played both ways at some point in their short careers. I'm sure they could be taken from the defensive side and put on the offensive side over the course of 5 years. Injuries and kids transferring or doing dumb stuff has cost a lot of depth out of this senior class.
