We used to have Direct TV & I recorded from the DVR all the time. But since we moved & switched to Dish I haven't recorded anything. I don't even see anythng on the menu where it says "Record to VCR or DVD". Should I be able to do this?

If you mean make a digital copy of the files on the DIsh DVR the answer is "no," at least not legally. The files are encoded with a digital rights management scheme. If you mean use a VCR or other device to capture analog output from the DVR the answer is "yes."

I think you have to do it the hard way. Run RGB cables from the Dish DVR to the DVD burner input and hit play on DVR and record on DVD recorder. I don't think this will work at all if you record the game in HD, I tried that last year with Time Warner and it would not send an HD recording to my DVD burner.
