Recommend me a laptop...

When it comes to computers, I know very little about them. I just know how to use them and don't know anything about RAM, memory etc.

I've had a laptop for 3 years and it's time to get a new one.

I use it to search the web, maybe watch some basketball games (that aren't on our market here in Austin) and occasionally work from home.

I have a budget of $1300 for the laptop. I need it to be a PC (bc I do occasionally work from home)

Do any of you guys have any input on a specific laptop for me? I am leaning towards the Dell xp m1330 or the xp m1550.

Both the Dell's you mentioned are pretty nice. I would also look into their Vostro brand. I recently purchased a Vostro and have been very pleased. You can also get one loaded with XP if you aren't a fan of Vista. Dell's prices really fluctuate. I would wait for a solid sale.... you can get a hell of a notebook for 800 bucks these days.
