I am looking to stay under 2k total. Please suggest. Also does electric or gas matter? I am leaning towards electric. Thanks for the input.

We've had the Kenmore Elite H4 for about 2 years.... they are bad ***... no problems at all, easy to use, quiet and fits some big loads...

I have LG TROMM. Got it at a dent&scratch place. Good deal. Works great.

Electric or gas doesn't matter too much. Figure out what kind of connection you have, since you probably only have one or the other.

I have had a Kenmore for about 9 years. It has worked great although it is starting to make a noise like a bad bearing or pulley or something. It still works though and I figure the maid will break it eventually like everything else she touches.

I have the Kenmore He5 and love it. Actually my wife loves it. Does large loads and got good reviews on consumer reports. However, we did have them out for service within the 1st year to replace a part.

Wife had to have the LG Tromms as soon as they hit the market. Had them about 4 years now with no problems. The wife swears by them.

We have had the Fisher & Paykel Ecosmart washer for a few years, no problems at all. And get this, it is quite energy and water efficient but is a top loader. It's a front loader turned sideways. This way you can open it after it starts & still throw in something. It spins fast and is pretty quiet. The price is right, too...got both the washer & dryer for $1100. Internet had it for same price and I took the quote in to a local Austin business on Rutland just east of Burnet. Got the delivery for free and they hoooked them up. You probably won't get that with a basic internet order from Amazon or something. The dryer is model DE08.

Find out if there's a Sears outlet anywhere near you. You can get great scratch/dent deals. We bought a new pair of burnt orange Kenmores last year for about $1200 total. Retail on them was about $2100. One has a scratch on the side, the other had a scratch on the top. Nothing you'd ever notice, and they are in the garage anyway.
