My nephew's birthday is this weekend. I don't want to get him another damned $50 Sonic/Mario video game. He and his older (10 y.o.) brother are both pretty sharp and culturally aware for their age, and they've started getting into music lately. He likes Bon Jovi and Kiss; his brother likes SRV.
Last year I gave the brother a Lynrd Skynrd Greatest Hits CD which seemed to go over well. Any other ideas? I'm thinking maybe Van Halen but some of their stuff can get a little more suggestive than I'm comfortable exposing a 7 year old to. Cheap Trick? Eagles? Rush might be a little over their heads right now. Queen is a bit too... uh... well you know. Maybe John Mellencamp? I'd say Allman Brothers but those 12 minute jams get a little tedious even for me, much less a 7 year old.
Doesn't necessarily have to be classic rock, but I'd kinda like to expose them to something other than that Hanna Montana/High School Musical stuff they seem to be bombarded with otherwise.
