Rear Shocks

...how do you install them. I heard it wasnt that difficult. The shocks themselves are compressed. Do I need to install them, before I cut the plastic tie? And where do I place the jack?

Oh not sure if its needed but its on a 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee

You definitely have to have an impact for the bolts. You can just place the jack underneath the rear end. Make sure to chalk up the front tires.
 
block the tires for sure, I have had success with a breaker bar in most instances and a few whacks with a hammer and some loosening agent. If you have an imact wrench makes it easy.
