RBs in 2010

With the recent rumblings that Texas is done recruiting Seastrunk, and the likeliness of them not recruiting Parr, who do you guys see as the main RB targets in 2010? Do you think Mack will go after Michael Dyer?

the ncaa has better things to do than look into the billboards (there is/was one on west adams as well). the lamar/lsu booster folks are not conferring any benefit on lache, and it would be ridiculous to try and prove that the ads were directed specifically at seastrunk. they say, "congrats lsu tigers, 2007 national champions." i have gotten to where i hate lsu and their cherry picking of talent (which made possible, in large part, by their non-existant admission standards). however, unless the billboards used his likeness and said "lache, you belong at lsu," i don't see the problem...other than pissing me off every time i drive by the stupid ugly things.

Lester's not doing anything differently than he did at okie lite...he just has a bigger pulpit in Baton Rouge than he had in Stillwater. He'll eventually flame out and LSU won't so easily cherry pick on this side of the Sabine.

The fact that Seastrunk chose to attend the opening game at aggy instead of here seems to indicate he's no longer interested in being a Longhorn.

It probably eliminated aggy from consideration too

I don't base this on any inside knowledge, but at this point, I kinda doubt Seastrunk knows what he wants, nor is he probably feeling any real pressure to choose. If he's like a lot of players that age, he's more than likely enjoying being a celebrity and checking out all of his options, aggy included, since after all, he's from Temple. I think it's too early for him to rule us out, or vice versa.

Guy is just starting his junior year. He could peter out before he graduates for all we know. Some guys mature early and dont even get a good scholarship. Even if they do, they still MAY be petered out and never amount to much. There have been so many that seem "cant miss" guys that dont amount to much. We dont want guys who peak in high school. The key is being able to project who can peak later.

I se no reason to think that Seastrunk is close to making a choice. We will still get him in for a visit unless Mack knows something we don't. Besides it looks like a good RB class the next two years.

On another note LSU has been recruiting East and Central Texas for the last forty years. Nothing new here.

Two more names to add to the pool of 2010 runningbacks are DJ Jones, Denison, and Waymon James, Sherman.

Just an update on DJ Jones. Last night he gain 434 yards on 30 attempts with seven rushing touchdowns. He also had a 29 yard reception for a touchdown.

DJ only played the first half in his game this week but went 149 yards on 11 attempts and scored 4 TD's.

He appears to be the states leading rusher with 1703 yds on 133 attempts and has scored 168 points. Even though he has played in eight games, he has only played in 24 of the 32 quarters.

Major Applewhite was supposed to be at his game on the eve of the TX-Mizzou game but he did not make it.

That's very impressive. But those teams in Frisco and McKinney are pretty bad. And Waymon James is a senior this year and committed to TCU. The Battle of the Ax however will be allsome this year.

The Battle of the Ax was allsome this year. DJ had 22 attempts for 291 yards and a 79 yard kickoff return to start the second half. The Longhorns surprised him with a visit and he accepted an unofficial visit to the Texas-Baylor game.

FSSW during their High School Scoreboard Live show named DJ as the runningback with the best record in the state in any class. 2251 yards in 182 attempts and 32 rushing TD's. He also has a receiving TD and the kickoff TD.

Sherman fans were criticizing them for kicking the ball to DJ to start the second half. The 3 deep on kickoffs are DJ, Shalamar Traylor, and Cody Reeves. All three have run kickoffs back for TD's. The only safe bet is to kick it out of bounds and give Denison excellent field position but don't give up the KO TD.

As I understand it DJ is now considered the #1 RB in the 2010 class and the focus of the Texas coaches.

there is some good video of him on youtube

He reminds me of Peterson when I watch him run.
