I realize #3 is high but why wouldnt the Raptors pick Thompson there? Local kid would draw some fan interest...no? In fact, maybe they take CJ in round 2 (with a guarantee like CJ Miles had from Jazz or DG had from Cleveland).

Then they have 2 kids from Team Canada and from the area for their future.

Just a thought...

Too high of a pick to justify for a marginal lottery prospect, I think.

If they wanted to go that route, they should trade down, clear some cap space and pick up Thompson at a spot where they can pay him for market value.

Another problem is that they also have around 6 guys on the roster who are also 6-foot-8 forwards with little trade value. That organization has made some dumb moves (for example, the recent signings of Kleiza and Barbosa) and I'm not sure it's the best situation for a player with high upside but needs development.

Have they even drawn the lottery balls yet to determine the draft order? Or are you speculating based on the worst teams records?

Speculating baswed on records.

I still see it happening. Players that go there always look to leave but I think he would stay.
