Ranking?

Rankings are out for most polls.

Baseball America (Texas #2, up from #3 last week)

Collegiate Baseball (Texas stays at #6)

USA Today (Texas stays at #6)

National Collegiate Baseball Writers (NOT YET UPDATED as of 3 PM) (Texas was #6 last week)

To summarize, a couple of teams above Texas in last week's polls (LSU and Florida State) lost their weekend series but lost them to teams that the pollsters seem to have a lot of regard for, so they stayed above Texas in all but the Baseball America rankings.

I think LSU should have been punished more severely. Until this past weekend, they had played no one. Kansas is similar to New Mexico in terms of their rankings in these polls (generally hovering in the 20 to 25 range). LSU only dropped from 1 to 3 in the CB and USA Today polls for losing their series against the Jayhawks, while Texas was dropped from 1 to 8/9 in those polls for losing 2 of 3 to New Mexico in the first week of the season. Baseball America is the only poll to treat those situations similarly.

Having said that, I feel like BA is pretty far off in a lot of their rankings. For example, Rice doesn't belong in the top 25, let alone the top 15.

The NCBW poll should be updated at some point today with this week's rankings, but I don't expect Texas to move up in that poll.

bassale47,

Thanks for your efforts to pull all those polls together and post them.

It will be interesting to see how the various teams are doing in a few weeks, after most of them have played tougher conference competition.
