Nice night at sports bar with Horns on one tv and next to it the Rangers on a nother. Big time win evens up their series at 1. They got to Shields who had to have a tired arm. Rangers must take one in Tampa to get home and have shot at winning this in five.
I had the radio on with Craig; Horns, and was watching every pitch. What really fascinating to me was how the Rangers kept staying patient at the plate, and somehow they just knew Shields would eventually crumble.
He still threw 100 pitches, so he will be available in relief for game 5 imo.
I think the Rangers pull it together enough to win one game in Florida. In game 5, my fearless forecast is that Rangers start C.J., he has a great game, we bomb Moore, get to him by the 5th, then Shields comes to pitch the 5th through the 8th inning.
Hopefully we'll be ahead enough by then to finish the game.
Btw, the Rays players all have the goofy confident, cocky smile like they know they're gonna hit a home run, and they have more than they should.
This HR pace they are on is impossible to keep up. It's gonna crash, hopefully Monday, by Tuesday for sure, I would think, but if it doesn't, I mean wow, if a .176 hitter keeps hitting home runs, they could easily win the world series.
Now I think game 3 on Monday is critical with Colby Lewis pitching. He stepped up last year in the playoffs and WS with 3 victories - one vs. TB, one vs. NYY and only Ranger WS win vs. SF.
