??? cleveland sucks. their offense would be improved if they named "corky" from life goes on as their all-time batter.

and this news flash: Hank was supposed to make his debut at 1B tonight, but has developed carpal tunnel syndrome and will be out longer. arrgh.

WorsterMan, I'm still experimenting with revisions to our mojo recipe from last year. It seems to work in spurts, then go bad in spurts. Any suggestions for new experiments in the ingredients? The hitting mojo seems to working fine, but the pitching mojo recipe is a bit erratic...

Husker we need to bring back The Dickey obviously!

It is so much fun watching Rangers and Astros game. Two great offenses and two competent pitching staffs.

I wouldn't have given you a nickel's chance in the 1st inning the Rangers would win today. 2-1 PHENOMENAL!!!

8-0-1 last 9 series.

Thanks. Tom Grieve was beside himself with both umps. He managed to censor himself but I could tell he was on the verge of another Richie Sexon-esque rant.

HHD - you will never get th right mojo recipe for pitching with the Rangers - just go for the fielding & hitting!! ... don't look now Rangers fans, but Horn69 is right, the Good Guys have not lost a series in 9 straight contests - they are an amazing 8-0-1. I cannot ever remember them doing this since I started following them closely in 1974. My Subscription to SI this week better have a story about the amazing turnaround of the TEXAS RANGERS.

All hail to Ron Washington! (Who would have thought I'd be saying that anytime this season?!?) I would have sworn Padilla should have been taken out after giving up a walk and long single to start the 6th. Damn if he doesn't get a 3-6-3 DP and a K and get out of it. I'm sure Padilla is a much happy camper having stayed in and now can turn it over to the bullpen. Washington showed some pretty strong stones by not making that move. Atta boy Ron!

did the same in cleveland with Gabbard<?> as well. man likes to stick w/ starter as long as possible.

and he's sticking with Gabbard again even though he's lost his control in the 5th.

Watching Saltalamacchia learn how to catch is also painful.

as kickass as laird is behind the plate, the guy is a serviceable hitter with above average speed (esp as a catcher).

and he's got me hooked on being able to throw runners out at 2B, whereas opposing runners are salivating with Saltilamacchia behind the plate.

I can't believe that we are now singing praises of Laird and not Salty.

Salty's potential is incredible and while he's not throwing out at the same pace as Laird he's got a fraction of the ML experience. I also think that we should at least consider that the Braves had this kid in the bigs and they usually don't throw sideshow prospects in just for shits and grins.

Having said that, if Salty gets hot and someone has the need (Yankees if Posada stays hurt) then we ship him off ONLY AT THE RIGHT PRICE.

Nice return for Millwood tonight. Maybe for once we can stop this trend and get over .500, it gets old getting to .500 then immediately losing the next game.
