Rangers trade Millwood, sign Harden

concur. Harden isn't durable but he is nasty. Millwood didn't seem to be either. And with the option year, they may get two years from Harden. They would've lost KM at the end of '10, most likely.

Got a nice potential setup man from Baltimore in the trade. Wonder if this is a prelude to moving Neftali into the rotation?

I like the pitching moves involving Millwood, Harden, Ray, etc., but I'm less pleased with the reported trade of Max Ramirez to the Red Sox for Mike Lowell.

I respect the heck out of Lowell. The guy has had a great career. But, are we really giving up Ramirez--a questionable catching prospect, but a potentially very good switchie bat--for an aging veteran on his last legs (with a nagging hip injury) to be a short-term RH DH for us?

We are stacked at catcher for several years. Trading Ramirez for a very cheap Lowell (Red Sox potentially picking up $9 million of his $12 million salary) is a good move.

Newberg reports that the Rangers are considering offering a contract to FA catcher (and former Astro and Royal) John Buck.
