Rangers to Sign Brandon Webb

This is good news. Webb is a proven Cy Young winner coming off medical problems. He is a low-risk signing with a great upside if he can return to form. Best of all, the Rangers don't have to part with a bunch of top prospects, as they would have for Garza or Greinke.

If Webb returns to form, the Rangers have a true ace; if not, it was a very low-cost roll of the dice.

Agreed. I especially like not having to part with any prospects. We'll see what he can do in ST.

I think the next thing we should expect from the Rangers is a deal with Vlad to return as the DH. When that happens, the Rangers should be set for Spring Training.

Meh.

Guy has shoulder issues. Very rarely has a guy come back and been successful after that kind of issue. Hershiser and Saberhagen come to mind, barely, as that was damn near 30 years ago. Low-risk, yes -- but also low-probability of high-return. I suppose it'll be nice if he can eat innings at the back of the rotation, but that seems to be the most reasonable expectation.
