Rangers sweep M's

Great weekend for the R's.

I wouldn't have guessed we'd win all 3, especially considering Lee and Hernandez pitched 2 of the games. but our pitching was actually better all weekend, top to bottom.

If you didn't get a chance to stay up and watch Friday's game, you missed a real treat. One of the better R's games I've seen in years. Colby Lewis was UNREAL. That is the kind of performance you attach to no-hitters.

Saturday's game was just a solid, all-around effort. Harrison gave just enough to get the W.

Sunday was another pitcher's duel with C.J. once again tossing a real gem. That's 5/5 quality starts for Wilson, in case anyone on here is counting, which I'm sure the haters are.

Amazingly, we're now in first place. With the roster turnover and injuries we've had, that's a nice testament to the quality starting pitching we've gotten. The bullpen has been real spotty, but they've started to settle in, finally.

With three games in Oakland this week, the Rangers have a really good chance to get a little separation in the division. Hope the good pitching continues!

I'm not a hater! I love the Rangers.... that means I'm a very patient person. I used to watch them in their old ballpark when I lived in Dallas during the 80's. I saw Bo Jackson hit a home run off of Nolan Ryan and watched Don Mattingly hit a home run setting the record for home runs in consecutive games. We gave him a standing ovation. Classic Rangers highlights huh? Good times.

I'm optimistic about this team because they have finally gotten it through their head that pitching is the way to go. This sale mess though could get ugly as I fully expect Hicks to let his greed get in the way. He is only about money; 24/7...

Anyway, the money issues cost them a chance to resign Pudge and that could be the problem this year as catching is a disaster.

When Kinsler's pop in his bat is back again, it'll be a huge help. His productivity helped to mask what Chris & T did (or wasn't doing) at the plate last season.

I'm not going to beat a dead horse on the Davis vs Smoak thing, but having Kinsler back & in form will be a huge help regardless of who's at 1B.

Hope I'm wrong, but i don't think Smoak is the fit here at 1B. Davis saved more runs than most think. Any time you can save a pitcher some throws, it's a big deal. With Smoak it just makes me think of the Rangers in the same light as the Mavs....A bunch of ill fitting parts that don't mesh. This team will win with pitching and defense, sending a great defensive player down doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

I was out of town and was not able to watch or follow much other than the end of the day scores. I am really pleased with the pitching coming around and hopefully the bullpen is starting to settle down after some early season debacles. The good guys have a chance now to take over first place.... Go Rangers

Getting back to the ballclub, Harden looked like a pitcher last night. Wish I could have seen the whole game.

Harden was throwing bb's last night. Consistently 95-96 on the gun and mixing in a nasty breaking ball. Looked like an ace last night.

Harden looked extremely determined last night and it came through on the mound. Helluva performance. The bullpen by committee is going to have to do, I guess. They certainly make it interesting! 6-1 in the last 7 w/out Nellie Cruz in the lineup. Kinsler had a great defensive play (maybe two) last night as well. Staying in first place...

Speaking of the old stadium, I saw a game there from the bleacher seats and Juan Gonzalez hit 3 homers in one game. I miss those $4 seats!

Don't get too excited Ranger fans... the M's weren't expected to have great hitting and it has been even worse than that. So far they are only hitting .236 on the season and I don't see it getting much better.

M's pitching has an ERA of 3.25 which is about the same as their runs scored per game (3.3). Until the M's finally find some bats they will consistently finish behind the Rangers and Angels.
