Young Mr. Moore just strutted off of the field proud of his 1st inning accomplishment. Someone needs to tell him he has 8 more to go.

Well, that's not the kind of start the Rangers needed. Wilson doesn't seem to have control early on. He hits a batter, gives up a home run to Damon, walks the next hitter, get two outs, then gives up a run-scoring single to the No. 9 hitter. 42 pitches in just two innings. Already down 3-0 going to the bottom of the 2nd.

Shoppach, who hit .176 all year, hits a 3-run home run in bottom of 2nd. Rangers now down 6-0.

. CJ just doesn't have it today.

Too bad Wash doesn't have those scrub pitchers to finish this game. He may just have to go ahead and burn C.J as long as he can. Can't waste your bullpen on this piece of crap.

The Rangers waste a lead-off double by Hamilton in the 4th. Other than Hamilton's two hits, the Rangers have not touched the Rays rookie pitcher.

CJ subsequently gives up another homer (2-run dinger) to Shoppach in the top of the 5th. Rays up 8-0. Texas is toast.

Well that sucked.

Rangers have to get it together for game two and then go take one in TB

This game irks me at so many levels, but these are the ones that immediately come to mind and drive me the craziest:

C.J., the Rangers so-called "ace," was shelled by a very mediocre offensive team--he gave up most runs since his rookie year.

The Rays offensive MVP for the game (though a FW Brewer and Baylor grad) hit .176 for the entire regular season.

The Rangers offense got shutout by a guy who had pitched only 9 1/3 innings at the big league level in his career.

The Rays top 3 pitchers haven't even pitched yet.

I know losing game one does not mean the series is lost, but a series that had originally set-up well for Texas now seems to favor the Rays, with their top guns having yet to pitch. The Rangers can rebound, but I'm extremely worried based on the way things have started out.

Wow... a shocker to me to say the least. Had to work today so only caught some periodic scores - didn't see any of the game until late. From what I gather:

Relative unknown with a 1-0 record brillantly pitches TB to a "W"
CJ has a bad game
Ranger bats go virtually silent

That the way baseball go... hate it but the R's gotta get over this one and flush it out of their minds... get after 'em Sat. and get the W

Good point, Woo. That is the way baseball go. Game 2 becomes a must. I do want to hear Maddon proclaim now that he would NOT bring the kid back for Game 5. He'd be stupid not to (uh, if necessary).

Sucked might be putting it mildly. The two excitement times were the fight in the stands along the third baseline and the guy who spilled two cokes down my back.

wow, I missed it. The drive home, which normally takes 1 hour 10 minutes at the most, took 2 hours. The one play I did hear on the radio was the 2-run home run. I was on the road from 4:15 to 6:15 p.m. Strangest, slowest drive home in a long time. I was actually listening to Mike and Corby on the ticket, MIke usually has a really good vibe about how something is going to go, and he knew it was a bad day really early.

I'm kind of surprised/not surprised, because we were due for a bad game. And the offense slide kind of started the other day, when Napoli was the only offense of the game, just happened to be his two home runs.

What is shocking is the player who hit 2 home runs batted .176 during the season.

I do think the Rangers will fight back and win today's game, althought it's that Shields character. He's gonna be tough, we have to make him pitch a bunch of pitches. This is normal rest for him, 4 days, but his last outing he did pitch well over 100 pitches.

I think we gave the game to Tampa and more importantly, they believe they are a team of destiny. They probably think they can win this series in 3 or 4 games right now, so we've got to come out with a focused offense, and make sure they know they're in for a 5 game series.

I guess I'll be flipping back and forth between this game and the football game.

yea! we did it. Just as I suspected, because of the lateness of the season, and the fact that he got all he could of his arm against NY, that 117+ pitches against the Yankees worked against Shields. Shields vs. Napoli basically sealed tonight's game.

I don't know about you guys, but I don't care to see our Japanese reliever again.

I'm pretty sure he gave up at least two homers during the season as well.

How about the strange, do you believe that Madddon pulled their Ranger killer Stoppach?

I thought that was pretty strange.

Also, strange, the look on all the Rays players, like they knew they were about to hit the ball out of the park, and they sure did, at least a lot more than we did.
