Okay, Ranger zealots,
I think we have reached the end of the line. Needing a sweep to have any whisper of a chance, the Rangers lose two of three to the Angels. It's all over but the shouting.
Still, by any reasonable measure, this has been a successful season for the Texas Rangers. Expectations were low coming out of Spring training, and the team has exceeded any reasonable dreams we had. We've seen the coming of age of young pitchers who were thought to be yet another year away. We've seen the coming of a terrific young shortstop for the future. There is an embarrassment of riches in the outfield, and the infield appears to be set for a good while. It definitely hurt to lose Josh for a significant portion of the season, as well as losing the reliable Michael Young down the stretch. But... the Rangers will finish in second place in the AL West with a winning record, and the management did not make any stupid trades of future talent for quick fixes.
The future looks bright. Let's hope that the ownership situation gets sorted out very quickly in the off-season, so they can at least be in the position to take a serious look at Free Agents. Only five months until Spring Training!
