Weekend series begins tonight.

Colby v. Ted Lilly

We've started to separate, ever so slightly. I think we can take 2 of 3 from these guys,

Yeah I was there a couple years ago when Sammy Sosa hit his 600th HR against the Cubbies. Bastard.

Feliz pitching the 9th.
-1st batter grounds out to Kinsler.
-2nd batter doubles to right field.
-3rd batter flys out to right field (runner tags up to 3rd base)
-4th bater pops out to Andrus.
Rangers win 2-1.

I watched last night on TV. That was a very crisp, well-played game. Kudos to Josh for his sac bunt - not something you'd expect, but definitely the right move to advance the runner to third with less than two outs. Nice work by the bullpen to preserve the lead.

Sure would be nice to get a sweep!

When Young's throw to 1st to end the 8th went in the dirt and Justin made an excellent scoop...all I could say was, "HOLY SMOAK!"

Hook'em!!!

Maybe if we played an inferior brand of baseball where pitchers are treated like babies we would win more, but we prefer the strategy and aren't so easily amused by a brand of baseball conjured up by marketing majors who wanted to see more offense in the game.

Longhorny,
Spend more time watching the Astros and less time bashing the AL. After all, they are in your beloved NL, and you can enjoy watching the pitchers for both teams strike out 3 to 4 times a game.

Why would I want to watch the pitchers for the Astros when they don't even want to play for the Astros anymore. I would only watch that when Zambrano is blasting out homers off the Astros pitchers.

Yessir, thanks for helping us get back on track. For the better brand of baseball the AL supposedly plays, I sure noticed a helluva lot more Cubs fans in Arlington than Rangers fans.

Where would we be without all the WGN bandwagon Cubbies fans popping up the past week?

A Curse of a goat. That musta been a real powerful animal, there.

As for the series....Kinsler's 7th inning AB today was the mirror of Smoak's horrible AB the other night. You just cannot piss away runs like that in tight games. I

If Smoak doesn't get out of this funk soon, they have to send him down. They brought him up for one thing- production. It ain't happeniing.

360,

I wasn't pointing at you personally, but there are tons of these types in the metroplex. Right along w/ the red sox nation bandwagoneers. People that aren't from "there" yet claim them to be their team for no sensible reasons.

Before the Trib took the cubs over, they didn't draw well. They drew less than 12k for a home opener about the time the trib bought them if i recall....then the trib took harry carey away from the sox, began pumping sunshine on tv and print, and suddenly they're the toast of the town.

Yah, Red Sox Nation has got to be the biggest collection of bandwagon fans due to their success in the last couple of years, but now that they aren't winning you don't as much about 'em. The Cubs don't have that critical component of success in the post season that really warrants bandwagon fans. I'm from the area as my 630 indicates but, I actually wish that the Cubs would draw 12k fans a game so I could get a ticket that isn't $60 for the upper decks with an obstructed view. Half the people don't even watch the game, it's just an outdoor bar for socialites.

I know things have changed up there long since, but....when i was a kid in 1964 my family vacationed up there. Went to both Comiskey and Wrigley. Comiskey was by far the most energetic of the two. The Sox were always contenders, the Cubs were not. No Bleacher Bums or any of that. Just a boring place- but a beautiful ballpark for certain.

fwiw, I liked the old Comiskey a lot. Seemed to have a lot of charachter, just in a very very rough neighborhood. The fans were into the game, Ron Hansen singled in the winning run in the bottom of the 9th for a 1-0 win. No DH, no piped in rock music over the speakers. Just baseball. Was great stuff.

I watched the games on TV, and I will give the Cubs fans their due. They were loud, and there appeared to be lots of them.

lol, I thought this was going to be a thread about bankrupt MLB teams!

anyway, cubs suck...go rangers

Think the Bush family wants to buy the Rangers? W obviously needs something to do with all of his spare time.

Or maybe we could dig up one of the newly rich Russians that wants a new toy, like the NHL? Want to buy an MLB franchise, cheap?

The definition of irony: Rangers asking A-rod for a loan so they can pay him back the $20+ million they still owe him.
