This is a really bad sign. You may expect to hear this about another club but the Rangers? In this economy and league-wide attendance being so far down I wonder if this is the tip of the iceberg? There may need to be a massive overhaul of team payrolls that would likely cause a work stoppage.

Well, the good news about having your hands tied is that it keeps you from using those hands to do something stupid. Too many times the Rangers have traded prospects for has beens or rent-a-players. Lately the club has been saving money by unloading payroll for prospects and has seen a payoff in a season or less. I think the Rangers should always be a seller rather than a buyer this time of year as part of a strategic play. Maybe if they are right at the edge of winning the division with a peaking team it may be time to bring in a veteran or two. But done too often that leaves a team bereft of players and prospects.

Hicks is the biggest douche in sports. The guy that bought anything and everything, over paid players left and right. Then he reverses and says that baseball had to get control of the spending. Not one of the sports franchises he bought has excelled for any period of time.
