<sarcasm>The battle for the coveted -- cough, cough -- Silver Boot begins in earnest this weekend. Fans of both teams will surely be on the edge of their seats, as the competition will be fierce for one of the game's crown jewels</sarcasm>

R's take game one, 9-3.

Do the 'stros fans even give a ****, at this point?

My closest friend who is an Astros fan doesn't even watch them anymore. He says you can have your heart broken only so many times ...

Go stRangers...

This trophy is hugely important to me.... after all it gives me swagger, bravado and bragging rights with my Houston friends who generally don't give two shits about the Astros, UH, the Rockets or the Texans.

At least by one measuring stick the Rangers are champions. Maybe it's not a pennant, but aside from a couple of division titles it's the best we've ever done. I've loved the Rangers for 35 years. I'm not a long-suffering fan. I relish the triumphs and take comfort when a terrible seasons means early draft picks.

Savor the flavor, R's fans! This might be the best stretch of ball we've played in about 5 years.

Josh is about as hot as any hitter I've ever seen. Every hitter in the lineup, save Andrus and maybe Kinsler, are tearing it up. The bullpen has been amazing. The starters have started to pull it together. We need 2 guys to step-up, whether it be Hunter, Holland or Nippert.

I'm wondering if we can straighten up the ownership chaos in time to make a move on Oswalt. For that matter, is it even worth it? Is RoyO enough to push us into actual ALCS contention? How much would we have to give up? How much does he have left in the tank to justify his mega salary?

i agree with eric, leave oswalt out of here....he'll come with a price & i want to keep our young prospects in hse.

as for the currrent streak, i think the last time we played a contender, we got swept....so even tho i'm VERY happy we're taking care of bidness, the competition hasn't exactly been fierce....but it's a darn good sign we're cleaning up vs weak sisters. going to give us a cushion by the time the sched gets really tough

Any time you can win on the road, that's significant -- doesn't matter if the teams you are beating are championship caliber or not. There's a reason why they say you should strive to win 50 percent of your roadies. Winning on the road is tough.

The Rangers are looking very, very good right now. Tim Kurkjian was talking the other day on ESPN Radio about how the Rangers deserve respect, and I agree with him. That comeback with against Houston yesterday was awesome -- down by 3 late, but they never gave up.

Eric, I'm with you on Oswalt, but it also depends on who we'd have to give up. I'd assume Holland would be required to seal the deal and I'm not sure I'm willing to include him at this point. If he keeps breaking down, though, I'd have to think about it. There's no way I'd offer Feliz, but Ogando would be on the table. In the end, RoyO commands so much salary that it's hard for me to envision a scenario where he'd provide a return commensurate with that price.

And Texanne is correct; winning 8/9 on the road is a feat, regardless of opponents. Besides, Milwaukee and Florida aren't THAT bad. Houston sucks ***, that's for sure.
