Random Thoughts on the NBA Playoffs

1. Replays on questionable calls seem non-existant. It's almost like watching an NCAA tourney game. I have found myself begging for replays several times. I'm not sure of this is due to the advent of DVR, but I'm suspicious that it has something to do with Mr. Stern.

2. Tony Parker is really good.

3. PHX can't defend a thing. Nash is a defensive liability and consequently, he is made to sit for long stretches. Amare played much better tonight on the defensive end, but overall, I think the guy is just not a very smart player. Certainly, he's a tremendous talent, but he looks lost and indecisive often.

4. Chris Paul is really, really good. CP vs. TP will be a great 2nd round matchup.

5. I still can't tell if the Rockets are a good or bad team. I also don't know if things would be any different if Yao were healthy. Educate me Rocket fans, your team remains a mystery to me.

6. Jerry Sloan amazes me. He should be in consideration for COY every year until he retires.

7. Cuban made this bed and he has to sleep in it. If he fires Avery immediately after the playoffs, it will be a shame.

8. The Mavs remind me of the Stockton/Malone Jazz. The window has closed.

9. Suns are done, Shaq is stealing money.

10. I really like Barkley, but he seems rather drunk on the set. More than usual.

11. I can't believe the Hawks are tied with the Celtics. Can you imagine the meltdown in beantown if they were to lose in the 1st round? I'm rooting for the Hawks simply to see the Simmons Page 2 article upon a huge collapse.

12. Kobe is sick. Gasol was a great pickup for the Lakers and they should make the WCF.

13. Kurt Thomas was a great p/u for the Spurs. He has a little left in the tank and he does not give a **** about minutes, points, etc. He just hustles and fouls.

14. The NBA playoff commercials with 2 players' half faces is kind of cool. BUT, I think they should start removing the players who are eliminated as the playoffs proceed.

15. Lastly, as a Spurs fan, I would love to see my boys pull a back to back. Sorry SA fans, I don't think it will happen this year. I see CP owning in the semis and the Spurs' old legs proving to be a huge hurdle for the silver and black.

Experience counts folks. When is the last time you saw the spurs lose to a young team like this?
