I'm going there for the first time tonight. What shoudl I try? What should I avoid?

I love that place. The chicken fried quail is good. Definitely save room for one of their fried pies for dessert.

I got the pork filet, the gf got the fish tacos. Excellent all around. Only complaint was the michelada, it was made weird (with bloddy mary mix) and the beer to mix ratio was way off.

very unique place from the menu to the decor. Never had a bad time there. Despite that it's not a large restaurant it's perfect for a group of about 8 to have some drinks and stuff faces.

Absolutely, positively, don't even go if you're not going to order it, try their fried oysters. Unlike any I've ever eaten. It's like they are just fried for a few seconds, so they are still a little wiggly.

Seriously - how would one describe the food at Ranch 616? Would you call it "southwestern"? Because it really isn't. I can't decide how to classify it.

it's almost a Gourmet Game and Comfort cuisine, if I had to label it, maybe.

it's closer to "Cowboy Cuisine" (a la Grady Spears) than Southwestern

They will also make brisket quesadillas (I don't they're on the menu any more)... very good.

They had a booth at the Home On The Range event last night out at the TDS Exotic Ranch. Beef short ribs IIRC.
