According to the head of the Chicago teachers' union, Chicago schools are a mess because of . . . Whitey. Link.

Of course, Chicago Public Schools are run by a Board that is 2/3 black or Hispanic and by a black CEO/Superintendent, and of course, there isn't a Republican of any color anywhere near the process. So I'm not sure where Whitey fits into the equation. Is it because Rahm Emanuel is Jewish? That's about as close as Whitey gets.

This is what sucks about politics now and why I can't engage the way I used to. If I support the GOP, I empower political prostitutes who will selling the rule of law and individuals' constitutional and private property rights out to corporate interests. If I support the Democrats, I empower lunatics like this woman. Pick your poison.
 
This Karen Lewis is a piece of work. And, despite being a self-proclaimed White Sox fan, she wants the city to follow the blueprint of the Cubs?

So having lived in Chicago for over a decade now, I admit that the race card is almost an expected opening gambit which has to be dispensed with before the real bribing and buying can commence.

This is one of the most segregated cities in the world, both in a racial and religious sense. The dividing line between Hispanic south side and black southside (west of Midway Airport is unbelievably stark. All of the west side past the relatively affluent West Loop out to Oak Park is a low income/high crime african american zone. North side is yuppy white folks (Lincoln Park/Lakeview). There are also Irish and Italian and Polish neighborhoods but these have seen a lot of transition with the communities migrating out to the suburbs.

It is all an offshoot of this being a big immigrant zone in the late 1800s and early 1900s where most people went to work in meat-packing plants or on the railroads and never had to learn English. They were mini-cultures that did not interact with other mini-cultures just a mile down the road. The Jewish clans predominate in Northern Suburbs like Glencoe and Highand Park. It just goes on and on.

There are historically Jewish, Catholic, and WASP clubs in the city. Ditto for the country clubs.

Racial and neighborhood identity often trumps being a Chicagoan, so I can see how a decision to do something to a neighborhood might be viewed as "they hate my people".

Also, most of the notable African American political organizations are here. Rainbow PUSH and Nation of Islam are not too far from each other on the South Side.
 
Long-winded point is that is both easy and sometimes advantageous to cry race in this city, even though the bottom line is that the school system, like everything else in this city, county, and state, is flat-*** broke and does not have a creditor base with unlimited patience.
 
When Politicians cry racism, it shows how weak they are.....

This is the year 2013, if you are crying racism you a weak minded person.

Look at all the strong African-American, Latin-American, Asian-American leaders in society, the strong ones, you don't hear that from them, why? Because it is a weak excuse for a weak person.

Does racisim occur, sure it occurs in many forms and factors and against people of all colors and creeds.

Think of it this way, if you were given $10 and you had to invest that money and live off the net income the rest of your life, where would you invest that money?(for you liberals, the dollar amount is irrelevant). You have to live off the net income(again for you liberals, you have to make money you can't deficeit spend) for the rest of you life.

I am going to spend that money where I can net the highest return, and the quality of your neighborhood is up to the residents regardless of race or color.
 
Chicago is a great city to visit, but horrible place to live or operate a business. It is full of corruption and it will eventually end up like Detroit.
 
Like I always say, schools are reflections of communities. Large swaths of Chicago are war zones so its no surprise that their schools are a reflection of that disaster.
 
Ok, I'm white and although I'm in central Texas, I will humbly accept responsibility for the Chicago school system performance disaster.
