You know that same guy would be shitting himself in glee if they had landed him.

Not that they could but just sayin'

I'm always very grounded -- almost pessimistic -- when we get a high school football player to commit and/or sign with us. Even at the 5A level, there is SO much of a difference playing high school football than D1 college ball. I usually look at the video highlight clips posted and think "yeah, that looks pretty good, but he's doing it against 16 and 17-year-olds,"

That being said, I've seen some of Brown's highlight video, and I can't help but get excited about his prospects here. It's how he runs and how he finds holes that amazes me. I may be wrong, but this is one prospect that I think is going to be getting carries against Rice on September 3 in 2011.

that bit of silliness is almost as good as the agg who wrote:

"we've got christine, who is faster and doesn't have brown's babyfat."

Hey, Malcolm....please read and remember the above.

Of course it makes no difference whatsoever that
Texas Football Magazine named Brown offensive player
of the year. They forgot to poll aggy or that would not
have happened.

If it were that easy, then we would make sure that all of our recruits we're so hyped that they would all be 5 stars. That's awesome logic.

When aggy gets like this, you know they are trying really, really hard to convince themselves that what they're saying is true.

I guess they should only be a 5 star if Aggie recruits them. Never mind that most every team wanted Brown including Bama.

I love how that idiot comes back and says "I'm not saying he's not any good. He's very, very good, and anyone would be lucky to have him."

Yeah, elite programs are tripping over themselves to offer full scholarships to 3* running backs.

Whereas generally a 5A team may be better than 4A teams which are better than 3A teams....etc.

doesn't mean that individual outstanding talent doesn't exist in the smallest of schools.

Three Texas (state of) legends come to mind, sure there are many, many, others:

Don Meredith, Mount Vernon, TX (<3000)
Billy Sims, Hooks, TX (<3000)
Bob Lilly, Throckmorton, TX/Pendleton,OR (1 yr)

I think they did okay in both college and the pros, but were from very small Texas football programs.

Right. That's why Texas has such amazing recruiting classes year after year after year ... the best players in the state are all afraid of competition, so ... they all team up and go to to the same school.

I'm old enough to remember that fed-ex jackie seemed to get whoever he wanted. That sure didnt seem to bother them back then. If everything is cyclical as they say, by my calculation, it will be approximately 50 years when it is their turn again. Thank God I'll be dead by then.

Mining for nuggets, how about this one..."I'm getting old and want to see an Aggie national championship before I die?"
Brings a tear to one's eye, doesn't it?
Then I liked the "none of those high school guys can tackle" comment, and the spirited debate over how lowly Texas 4A football is.
Great read, a must for comedy fans.
