Questions about Blood Meridian (spoilers)

I pretty much thought I was tracking this book all the way through, but towards the end I had a few questions.

After the Yuma attack on the ferry when the the survivors of the Glanton gang reach that well in the desert, why does Tobin (ex-priest) urge The Kid to kill Judge Holden? I mean they were just recently all part of a gang of happy killers. Why turn on each other now?

After Tobin and The Kid leave the well Holden chases them down and tries to kill them, why?

I assumed Holden killed Toadvine and Brown at the well to get their equipment but later they turned up hanged in some other town. What's up with that? How did he get Brown's rifles?

Where the hell did Tobin disappear to in San Diego?

What the hell did the naked Judge do to The Kid in that outhouse?

agreed with the above. the judge is the embodiment/personification of evil. towards the end everyone was trying to survive, which meant the judge needed more clothes/guns/etc to survive the desert.

what in the hell was the guy who sold the hat going to do with money at that time? seemed like a hat was much more valuable, considering the circumstances. the judge was still able to get what he needed in order to survive, though. the only way to avoid succumbing to him was to kill him.

as for the outhouse, i don't know if the particulars matter that much, just that the outcome is judge 1, kid 0. the judge remains, and always will, he'll never die, and he'll always **** you up.

I definitely enjoyed Blood Meridian by itself, but it is definitely a book (like Ulysses or something) where a little bit of literary criticism and outside scholarship is going to help you appreciate it a lot.

I think he rapes/kills the kid. (Again, how do they make this movie? Who plays the Judge?)
