question re: guardianship

I have an older sister who has battled addiction to prescription drugs and alcohol. As a result, she's currently on probation for several DWIs and currently in trouble for driving without a license.

Her attorney, for some reason, wants to appoint me as her guardian. I think he believes she will get a lighter sentence/probation at her hearing in June, if she has a guardian.

I want to help her out, but frankly I have no control over her. What I need to know is, in Texas, are there different levels of guardianship, and what liabilities/responsibilities would I have? I wanted to get an opinion before I talk to her attorney, because I don't completely trust his motives.

Long and short is, I don't want to be liable for any of her actions. Otherwise I'd be OK with it.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you might need your own attorney to represent you in any agreement you work out. Remember he is looking out for her, who is looking out for you?
