My guess right now is yes, Texas picks up a commitment from TMG.
I don't know how Texas is doing with Nolan Dennis at the moment. Kenny Boynton is between Duke and Texas for now, with Florida recruiting him real hard.
I don't see how TMG's commitment would affect either one, but I guess we can see.
Right now my best guess for the '09 class would be TMG, Shawn Williams, Jordan Hamilton, and the best player willing to commit the fastest for a four man class. There's a question as to how Texas could come up with 4 scholarships for that class, and it's a question I couldn't answer real well at this time.
What I have found over time is that my best guesses regarding recruiting this far in advance of the signing date have virtually no shot of panning out. They could be better than what I expected, they could be worse, but recruiting is so fluid, it invariably changes from what I expected.
well if augustin leaves this year then his scholarship would probably be used for somebody in the '08 class...... Maybe that guy could be evans and he would be one and done, but probably not.
Also, while I do think James is likely to go pro after next season, he will have to show marked improvement in a couple places (specifically ball handling), so I don't think him staying four years is impossible.
Evans is going to Memphis. I've given up on that one. Texas is third at this point, behind Memphis and Villanova.
Damion James is gone after next year. It will be a weak draft, and I feel he'll be a sure 1st rounder. I don't think the 2 year NBA deal would kick in for the 2009 class, even if it is approved, and the 2009 class is a deep one.
You're right, bierce, that does get Texas to 4. Of course, it could still get complicated if Augustin goes pro, and Texas ends up pulling in a multiyear player or two in the '08 class.
But 4 is my best guess as to how many players the class will consist of at this point.
