Question about umbrella insurance policies

We have used the same insurance company for home, automobile, and "umbrella” coverage for many years. I know the answer to my upcoming question is probably specifically listed somewhere in our policy, but we are in the process of moving, and it is boxed up somewhere; heaven only knows when we will be fully moved and unpacked. My question is this: if we were to switch carriers (for example, going from, say, Allstate to State Farm), does the umbrella policy with my previous carrier still protect me for events or acts that occurred while I had that policy? For example, let's say one of the moving van company people is injured on my property while moving us out of our old home and then, months later, after we are in our new location and under a new insurance policy with a new carrier, brings a lawsuit…I assume I would still be covered by my previous carrier even though I no longer have an active policy with them and am no longer paying them any funds. Correct? Or, in general, are umbrella policies kind of like “claims-made” medical malpractice policies where one has malpractice coverage ONLY IF he or she is still maintaining an active policy with their original company?

The personal umbrella (PU) policies approved for use by admitted insurers in Texas are "occurrence" policies, meaning it covers accidents that occur during the policy period. No claims made PU in Texas' standard market.

We added a second property while we are transitioning from one to the other to then rent or sell the first. We added the second house for a very, very reasonable rate to the umbrella.
