Okay all you green thumb hornfans out there I need some help. I would like to start a little nursery of plants/trees for when I buy a house. The apartment I am in has a big private uncoverd porch/deck about 10'x10' that recieves full sun for about 5-7 hours a day.
My question is this. How difficult is it, or is it even possible to cut a part of a plant/tree that is already old and established in the ground and "transplant" it into a big pot/container on my porch? You know, cut a limb of the tree or plant off and stick it in a pot and hope it grows, that sort of thing.
On sunday I cut two pieces of Rosemary from my grandmothers plant. About 9 inches a piece. One I stuck in a clear class jar filled with water and the other I stuck in a pot filled it with dirt and watered it. Will these things live? Will they eventually take root?
Any ideas on the best way to do this would be helpfull. I thought this would be a better way to go than just buying all new plants and hope they live.
