Question about JUCO or transfer QB's

So if the staff does decide to go after a JUCO or transfer QB, the big part of that is obviously to bring in immediate help in terms of college experience at the position. So with that in mind, it seems like getting him enrolled in the spring would be extremely key. Otherwise he would actually be behind Brewer in terms of learning our offense (with Brewer enrolling for spring)

So question is - what is the deadline to apply and get enrolled in the spring? Seems like we are getting close if spring semester starts mid Jan, and at this point we are still just discussing names (Bo Wallace, etc). Seems like something would have to happen pretty quickly

Never underestimate the ability of a large, profitable college athletic department to get admission deadlines adjusted. Seems I remember a case at another school a few years ago where all the admission work was done on the first day of school. Was it Cam Newton? Maybe that is a bad example -

Most of the pay sites agree on this thought... that anyone being brought in the spring semester (1st day of classes...) would have to be a WOW kind of player and not just any Qb... as suggested above, maybe a Cam Newton or the Wisconsin qb kind of player. That I've read or heard about, there isn't that kind of player, juco or senior/graduate available...

From Mack's presser today:

"On recruiting junior college quarterbacks: I don't see that happening for us. It's something we looked at, but as of right now, it's not happening. That may change, but I don't see it happening this late."

Guess that settles the JUCO part.

From spurstalk.com: "both OL Donald Hawkins and DT Brandon Moore will be signing their Letters of Intent on December 21st and they plan to be in Austin by January 14th."

Of course this is probably not the last date they could have signed and from the Mack quote above, it sounds like the juco QB isn't likely to happen anyway.

It's a down year for JUCO QBs. Mack has shown this year he's not above getting JUCOs for need positions like DL and OL. QB is a need position, but you need a JUCO who you feel can step up and leave no doubt he's the guy over Case or Ash. Otherwise, its a waste of a scholarship.
