Hit on 6 of 8 round of 16 winners but missed the only two I really cared about

Brazil over Netherlands (this could be final in a different draw)

Uruguay over Ghana (Not sure I can even watch this one it is such a disappointing match up when could well have been USA)

Germany over Argentina (Maradona's bad coaching will finally catch up to Argentina)

Spain over Paraguay (Spanish have talent to win this tourny and I like them now to make finals vs Brazil)

Brazil 2-0 or worse. Netherlands are good but they will not be able to compete against the Brazil defense.

Uruguay 1-0. Ghana has no chance to score except via penalty.

Germany/Argentina: Should be the match of the tournament. I'm going to lean Argentina 3-2 maybe 3-1. I dont see many weaknesses from Argentina. They have killed everyone they have played. Argentina brought more coaches than anyone. They have all done a pretty good job.

Spain 1-0. Spain is a choke team but I dont think Paraguay will be able to beat them.

Brazil over Netherlands (this would be a toss up but the Dutch are not getting along; issues between RVP, WS and AR are well documented)

Ghana over Uruguay (Ghana's D is solid and the young talent in Ghana is second only to Germany's youth movement)

Spain over Paraguay (Torres is the weak link; he needs to be on the bench but even with him in the starting 11, Spain is too good to lose to a team that needs penalties to beat Japan)

Germany over Argentina (this is hard to call; Ozil vs. Messi; Argentina is the more experienced and the more talented team overall but I am in love with the German front of Klose, Ozil, Podolski and Muller and will be rooting for Ze Germans)

i think the stories of maradona as a bad coach are over. does he shoot his mouth off every time he speaks? sure. but i think being a coach in soccer is different than most other games because it's so much more fluid; it's not like there are a ton of plays to "set up," like in basketball, baseball, or football. the coach has to inspire/motivate the team - check, he has to come up with a lineup that will work well together - check, and come up with the right overall distribution of players (4-4-2, 4-3-3, etc.). he has to manage the egos of a bunch of primadonnas/players (especially in argentina's case) who are the respective leaders on their own club teams - check.

i think maradona has done quite well here and he's got these players feeling like he really cares about them, and kind of started this whole thing off as this world against me story protecting his players from the detractors..

I would like to see Ghana triumphant, but I'll go with Uruguay, Brazil, Argentina in a shoot-out, and Espana. But I wouldn't be surprised if Ghana and Germany make it, even the Netherlands, who are strong.

I want these teams to advance:

Brazil over Netherlands
Uruguay over Ghana
Alemania over Argentina
Paraguay over Spain.

How dare you use the Germans own word when speaking English!

Btw, why the heck do we call it Germany? Its like Egypt. The real word in Arabic is nothing close to Egypt. (I used to know it but forgot)

I want Ghana or Paraguay to win it all because it will embarrass the hell out of Mexico not being able to do any better than the sweet 16 five times in a row. Kind like Stoops, Urban, Tressel and Saban blowing up the 5 year plan.

I am going to be the fly in the ointment here and pick The Dutch over Brazil. Not that I think they have a better chance. Just that they have always been among my favorites. I would love to see them in an upset and advance all the way.
