QB Injury in Championship Game

Any other cases like what happened to McCoy? In either a Bowl game (BCS or otherwise) for the national championship or the super bowl? I just can't seem to recall any other case where this has happened where the QB just absolutely could not go back in. If it had been Colt's left shoulder..I still don't know if would have been able to go.

I think Unitas came in from being injured during the previous game in one of the NFL Championships, pre-merger.

I can't think of any significant college QB's who played well through a season and then got injured in the bowl game. One of FSU's QBs... I think it happened in the 90s when they were always in the top 5, and they had to platoon him in the bowl game, but I don't even remember his name.

Wasn't it Byron Leftwich that had to be carried down the field by his linemen after every pass completion. That might have been a conference championship game, though.

Yeah Byron had broken his shin and had to be carried down the field by his lineman after a long pass play...but at most it was just a conference championship..wasn't a game for all the marbles.

basketball it has happened a couple of times. The famous Willis Reed game and the other was the series between the Lakers and 76ers? When Kareem got injured that forced Magic to play all five positions in a finals game.

Interesting that it really hasn't happened in football.
