Aggie:
Down 17-7 in the Middle of 3rd qtr., Aggie coach ELKO “introduced a dual-threat dimension to the A&M offense” by replacing Connor Weigman with RS freshman QB Marcel Reed. Coach Mike Elko credited the change at quarterback in mid 3rd qtr to the Aggies’ need for a “running threat back there” against the LSU defense. Aggies won 28-23.
COACH ELKO: Yeah, he (Connor) took it great. I just told him, it's not you, this is not you. This is not on you. I'm going to tell everybody, it's not on you. We let him down. We all did. But we needed a spark, and then we were just at a point where we had to try something different. And we felt like if nothing else, Marcel's [Reed] athleticism would give us a different variable that they probably hadn't spent a ton of time preparing for. And so that's what we did, and it worked for us.
Longhorns:
In a tight game where Texas Offense sputtered, Sark keeps 5-star redshirt freshman sidelined.
Arch Season
We were winning most of the game and seemed like we were always just a play away from opening up a big lead unlike Aggie that was losing. The results of keeping Ewers in could easily be argued it was the right call.
However, my bet is Elko would have went with Arch.
What say you?
